EC Member Dr. Qin Gao named the Maurice V. Russell Professor of Social Policy and Social Work Practice
CUAFA EC Member Dr. Qin Gao has been named the Maurice V. Russell Professor of Social Policy and Social Work Practice at the Columbia School of Social Work, where she also serves as the Associate Dean for Doctoral Education and Founding Director of the China Center for Social Policy.
Dr. Qin Gao is a leading expert on China’s social welfare system. She is the Founding Director of the China Center for Social Policy, the first research center of its kind housed within a school of social work. Dr. Gao’s research focuses on poverty, inequality, social policy, and population well-being in China and among Asian Americans. Her major works include Welfare, Work, and Poverty: Social Assistance in China (Oxford University Press, 2017) and the co-edited volume China Urbanizing: Impacts and Transitions (Penn Press, 2022). She also led the 2022 State of Chinese Americans Survey and contributed to the New York City Longitudinal Survey of Wellbeing.
