Dr. Iok In Christine Chio Receives Emerging Leader Award for Pancreatic Cancer Research
CUAFA celebrates Dr. Iok In Christine Chio, Assistant Professor of Genetics and Development at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, on receiving the 2026 Emerging Leader Award from The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research for her project “Systemic Iron Remodeling as an Early Indicator of Pancreatic Cancer Progression.” This prestigious award supports promising early-career scientists pursuing high-impact work with the potential to transform cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Dr Chio’s research investigates how early pancreatic tumors reprogram iron metabolism throughout the body, long before clinical diagnosis, with the goal of identifying novel, non-invasive biomarkers for earlier detection of pancreatic cancer.
